About KITCenter
- KITCenter was designed to enhance instruction and capabilities regarding information technology (IT) throughout Kentucky. KITCenter’s multifaceted approach includes a particular emphasis on the professional development of community and technical college faculty to enhance their ability to deliver a new Kentucky IT Curriculum.
- Professional development has been promoted in particular through workshops taught under KITCenter’s auspices. In addition to community and technical college faculty members, faculty and staff from public schools and employees of private and public sector organizations have also attended workshops.
- Working with the Kentucky Department of Education and the Kentucky Office of Career and Technical Education, Secondary teachers represent nearly 50% of the attendance in workshops.
- To date, KITCenter has conducted over 450 workshops and served approximately 3800 participants. Workshops are offered for beginners and more advanced users; with topic selection based on knowledge of future technology implementations, new/updated curriculum demands and special requests.
